At Alabama Family Adoption Services, we are caring professionals who are ready to assist you in meeting the requirements for adoption in the State of Alabama. AFAS is a state licensed adoption agency, since 1991, offering the following services for domestic and international adoptions:

Pre-Adoption Preparation

As an adoption professional, you know the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC) dictates how adoptions are coordinated. In the State of Alabama, the Compact Administrator is based at the Alabama Department of Human Resources in Montgomery. In all interstate adoptions, the State of Alabama mandates home studies, with documentation on the adoptive family and child. Alabama Family Adoption Services has an excellent, long-standing relationship with ICPC. We are ready to assist you in meeting the State of Alabama requirements for your interstate adoption. Specific services include:

• We can also assist in providing counseling for birthmothers. 

International Adoption Services

We can provide the following services mandated by CIS and State of Alabama.

• Assistance in Obtaining state issued Birth Certificate for child
